    Memories for us old truckers

The red one with the white roof is an old Material Transit truck. They used a lot of Autocars in their time. They owned the ready mix concrete plant, did site work, and Beaver Blacktop. It was a family business, two brothers I believe. They split it up to become Diamond Materials and Harmony...

    503 G Galion

I think its on the bottom, but can't quite see it clearly. I was hoping not to have to remove the entire cab. And this one has the F-162 in it. BTW, who is the manufacturer of the power steering units that can be added to these graders? I have seen them on DD Allis Chalmers, and would like...

    Do you Grease your circle?

I've heard it done a lot of ways, grease, no grease, used motor oil, diesel fuel, etc. For the most part have always run a dry circle top surface, and as Randy said placed grease on the teeth on the front part of the circle. But, about 10 years ago I stumbled on something made by Lucas Oil. Its...

    Trailer park style Motor Grader

Pretty sure Huber still makes their Maintainer, which in a sense was a tractor with a blade hung underneath. Was quite popular at one time from what I have been told.

Evidently keepin her "on ice" until business picks up in the spring was a bad idea. Looks like an expensive duck blind.

what kind of mechanism is this?

Chris, nice looking F model there. But I would venture a guess to say that its a 73 or older, as Cat didnt make any to my knowledge after that.

    Later Cat 12G & 12H steps

yeah, it would I guess, lol. Course, would have to get the 15.5x25s and the low pro cab too to be complete. The wider rims seem to be harder to find than the ripper.

    Later Cat 12G & 12H steps

Thanks guys. He does take good care of it. My brother and I bought him that A/C unit about 4 years ago. At age 75 the heat was starting to bother him more than normal so we thought it was time for a cooler enviroment in the cab. Now if I could just find a used ripper and push block for it to get...

    Later Cat 12G & 12H steps

made a set for my Dad's 12G with some heavy rubber belt and 2inch wide metal grating from an old platform from exterior steps. had to make some brackets for the cab from some flat steel, and the rest was easy. I'll try to take some pics of them for you to go by. They do make it easier to get in...

My trip to the local Caterpillar Dealership

Next time another dealer grunts at the hat you are wearing, tell them that you would wear one of theirs if you had one. Just dont give up the one you have. Still today I'll pull out a Case or JD hat to wear when I go to Alban Tractor when I am in need of a new Cat hat. It works more than not.

    heavy traffic

the fabric, depending on which brand and weight averages $300 for a 12-16 foot wide roll. It works well when its used properly, and has sufficient cover. Dont try and get away with just 6 inches or less. You'll end up catching it with the cutting edge and tearing it, causing you more problems...
