    HYMAC restored with pics

Older stuff better??????? Well I think there's room for a slight debate here - I wouldn't agree that older equipment could "outwork" a brand new machine as regards speed or perhaps power but there is an issue regarding build quality and simplicity. On the forum we have machines that are...

    NH curved boom?

JCB banana When I worked in the JCB factory in 1991 I saw a "banana" curved boom being put through it's paces in the research department - when i asked why they were copying CATs design I was told that "It was wise to test out what the competition was doing incase it turned out to be better" -...

    From Demolition to Land Clearing

Evil fire! (not) God! - would be so nice to live in a country where people don't want to lock you up in jail for burning some brush wood. I recon that red tape, rules and regulations, and law gone mad will prosecute us soon for passing wind:ban - do something for us people with common sence...

anyone ever seen anything like this before!?!

Don't cut that branch! That cat up top should be ok as long as the operator remembers not to bite the land that keeps him safe - we've all seen the guys who chop the branch off that they are sitting on!!!

    Refurbished JCBs

centremounts Yes all that you've said can be true - and not forgetting that a sideshift is great for digging a parallel trench close to a building and they can be tucked away neatly against the rear of the machine for transportation etc. I know the main reason why the US/Canada has...

    My 580B gets painted

Case Cab It's weird that CASE didn't specify the same cab design in your Swedish machine as the rest of the world you would have thought the extra cost involved would have made them standardise it - it gives the machine a whole different character! Nevertheless your 580B is a fine example. As...

How young is too young to run a 312?

Youth vs Experience! Yes! never too young! - here's my wee fella Christian at 18 months trying his hand at an Hitachi EX100. Anytime he sees something big and hydraulic, out come the words "brumm brumm digga" - makes your heart melt! I have a lot of prized scale models which I used to worship...

    Refurbished JCBs

Thanks for asking for more pics guys - JCB is as generic in the UK as CAT or Deere is in the US and Canada (no arguements) so heres some pics of a 3D and 5C:)

    My 580B gets painted

You need to block every orifice (of the machine that is) if sandblasting as a slight bit of grit in the engine cylinder sleeve can cause nightmares - one of the best options is to use buffing pads on an orbital sander! least you can do bits at your own pace.

    HYMAC restored with pics

old iron still weighs the same as new iron! Thats how I make my living restoring old machines - some people can only afford 3-4 thousand pounds - the job gets done a bit slower but does get done - plus they are never stuck with the machine at the end of the job - there is someone always...

    200 ton excavators

Because its big does that mean its slow - What I mean is surely every function must be slower than a 20 tonner otherwise you could do some serious damage?? Also does it ever get a bit boring using such a huge machine as I imagine the work would be more repetitive than say using a 20 tonner on a...

    CAT 345 with ripper attachment

Cheers Jordan - I have a 325c with ripper and it does rip but has limitations! Ideal world I'd go for a 365 but the price jump from a 345 would buy me a nice dump truck as well. Thanks m8

    Excavator Challenge

Pull 2 corks out? Over here in Northern Ireland we had a JCB driver champanionship. each contender had to drive a JCB around a set course - lift a bucket of water without spilling it with the front bucket and then pull out two "metal" corks out of Guinness bottles mounted on a table. (which I...
